Submissions for the 2024 Festival are officially open, along with our Student Steering Committee
Hi all,
We’re thrilled to launch our call for submissions for our first multi-day festival, bringing together filmmakers and climate workers at the intersection of climate storytelling. We invite filmmakers to join us by submitting your work via FilmFreeway!
From narrative and documentary features to experimental shorts and music videos, CFF harnesses the transformative power of motion pictures, showcasing new and established voices, classic climate films, and energizing, human stories. Whether you're a seasoned filmmaker or just beginning, we welcome a broad spectrum of categories.

The Climate Film Festival (CFF), New York City’s premier film festival dedicated exclusively to climate-related film and media, is set to make its debut September 20-22, 2024, coinciding with the opening weekend of Climate Week NYC. As the first film festival in New York City dedicated exclusively to climate change, CFF aims to create a platform where diverse voices and perspectives converge to inspire change.
Join us this September for our inaugural festival, with screenings, panels, Q&As, a filmmakers’ welcome event, climate + culture sector mixers, workshops, networking opportunities, industry showcases, and more.

Join the Student Steering Committee
The CFF Student Steering Committee invites residents of New York City and the surrounding region who are between the ages of 18-24 to participate in an ambassador program about climate change, film, media, and the arts.
With the support of the CFF team, the Committee will have the opportunity to engage with different aspects of organizing an impact-driven film festival, including: curating a Climate Film Club screening; voting for a Student Steering Committee’s Choice Award at the September 2024 Festival; writing guest posts for the CFF newsletter; meeting like-minded, dedicated peers in pursuit of climate action; and providing critical assistance and perspectives on the climate crisis from the point of view of NYC-based youth.
Student Steering Committee members will be selected from across the five boroughs and beyond. The group will meet on a monthly basis beginning in Spring 2024 and ending in late Fall 2024. Participants will additionally have the opportunity to both attend in-person screenings and workshops throughout the year and to provide hands-on volunteer help at the annual Festival in September.
